Seasons *Summer Storms*
The winds rushed across the countryside, rattling chimes and rooves alike in their play. Whipping in and out of the clothes hung up to dry in the hard glare of the sun and momentarily chilling the wet skin of those playing by the poolside trying to escape the oppressive humidity.
A rumble in the distance, slowly growing louder as the blue skies grow darker and the wind, no longer playing, takes on an ominous howl as it shakes the windows in passing warning of the weather behind it, yet somehow the air pulls in closer.
The sky continues to darken as the first few fat drops of rain splatter to the dry, dusty earth.
"It doesn't look like a big one" the man says from the patio, beer in hand as the temperature finally drops a few degrees and a the rain starts lashing down in sheets, driven by a furious wind.
A strike of lightening hit the gum trees, cracking the trunks and burning the ground. A Crack of thunder rumbled over head, rattling bones and causing animals to cower, or run for shelter.
The rain driving down hard, trees toppling and catching power lines. Streets go dark and the wind howls in fury and the sky rumbles and cracks with lightening and thunder illuminating the darkness.
The man with his beer thought wrong. It is a huge one... And Mother Nature was raging.
But as we all know, when she is done and rain stops falling and the petrichor scent drifts along the lazy breeze and the clean up begins the earth feels clean and often our minds feel a bit more at ease with it.
