Inspiration in Nature - Wetlands

Hello Everyone,

Today we will be talking about finding inspiration in nature.

It can be easy for those of us that enjoy reading and writing to stay indoors and focus on the book we are enjoying or the project we are writing.
But there is so much in nature to inspire us and to just make us happier. And let's be h
onest, how many of us go anywhere without our phones these days? A small device easily able to take notes when that bolt of inspiration strikes already in our pockets, so we can wander our to some wonderful National Park/Nature Reserves and still able to get our ideas down when it is fresh.

I live in the beautiful country of Australia, we have some amazing
diversity of environments here. From tropical rain forests through to our great interior of red desert and Uluru.
I love going for walks through wetlands, or the bush. I adore going to the beach day or night. There are the small things in these visits that inspire me. A ladybird on a leaf, a finch flitting branch to branch I find these natural moments inspiring in many ways.

So let's talk about a one of my favorite places to gather inspiration in nature.

The Wetlands

I love wetlands, there is an amazing diversity of animals in an Australian wetland and the peace of the environment is just perfect to sit and relax.

Many of the wetlands in my area are protected reserves that assist with conservation efforts, in fact one is entirely man made as a consequence of the sand & mining operations in the area after WW2. It was left untouched and undeveloped in the 90's but in the last few years there was a large push to industrialize the area. There was a push back from the locals and so a compromise was reached, out of 120 Hectares only 40 could be developed (with strict green building code regarding the development) the remaining 80 was protected and rehabilitation efforts began.
There are many artificial habitats (over 100 nesting boxes) that have been made and hung up to assist with population building of the wildlife, (Possums, birds & sugar gliders) and no pathways or ranger tracks were allowed to disturb the Wallum Froglet's habitats. There are regular sweeps for non-native plants that are then removed to ensure optimal growth for native plants and healthier foraging for the animals.
All of this includes seating & family BBQ areas that are wonderful to just relax and soak in the atmosphere.

My favorite thing to do at the wetlands is walk, just wander the kilometers of track and enjoy the calls of the birds and frogs. Take photos and look for wildlife, and sometimes if the moment is right I might just get that bolt of inspiration and will quickly type down some notes that will get me through the story block or spark off another story.

So I encourage you to head on outdoors and just breath in that clean fresh air, take a book to read or notebook to scribble in, grab a camera and snap some photos. take some snacks and a some water and take your time. It is about the experience not the outcome so make sure that you enjoy yourself.
